Fishpools Cottage

The area is wonderfully situated for outdoor pursuits. Riders of horses and bikes will find a wonderful network of bridleways, green lanes and footpaths enabling you to explore the forest and surrounding hills, often not meeting another soul. For more organised activities why not try go-karting in Presteigne, Carriage driving in Cascob or rally driving in Llangunllo.
If peace and quiet is what you are looking for then look no further than the Bleddfa centre for the creative spirit which offers a full programme of workshops and events or visit an exhibition at the art gallery. The Church of St Mary Magdalene is at the heart of the village and often is the venue for concerts.

Horse Riding

Lower Fishpools is the perfect place to holiday with your horse. We are surrounded by accessible bridleways and there is direct access from the property into the Radnor Forest.

You have the option of stabling your horse or turnout in our safe paddocks. The stables all have rubber mats and shavings/straw and there is a secure tack room.

The Radnor forest ride routed from the National bridleways network goes through Bleddfa and Fishpools cottage is an ideal place to stay for both you and your horse.
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy petal rides or you could experience a ride taking in the Radnorshire countryside with a route across Beacon Hill to stay at a pre-arranged bed and breakfast.

Underhill riding stables are situated one mile from us. They are a family run business that offers lessons, hacks, pub rides and / or whole day rides.

Rally Driving

Motorcycling

This scenic area is popular with motorcyclists who come for leisure rides on the mid-Wales winding but relatively clear roads. Many riders meet at the local café to compare notes and enjoy lunch.
The Royal Welsh Showground hosts the annual Motorcycle show.

Off road motorcycle riding is a popular past-time in this area and there are several local tracks and green lanes for enthusiasts. Many events are held within or near the Radnor forest.
There is under cover bike parking available.

Cycling

The Radnor forest has two routed cycle tracks set in stunning scenery designed for family riding or you can enjoy the quiet public roads and miles of off-road riding that Radnorshire has to offer.
Mountain biking is popular and there are several trails within the forest offering spectacular views and interesting terrain.
We have bike hire available.

Walking

The Fishpools trail starts from us and has sign-posted trails designed for the family taking in the spectacular views of Bleddfa and across to the Lugg valley and the old battle site of Pilleth.
Walkers also can enjoy longer walks – the Radnor Forest Valleys walk, the Glyndwr’s way and the Offas Dyke path are all easy to get to from us.
Why not take a walk through the forest to the local pub for lunch and stroll back along the green lanes.
