Fishpools Cottage

Bed and Breakfast with your horse in Wales

Accommodation

Although originally the house was a small cottage, it has been sympathetically extended over the years. It has some original features including a bread oven and old beams and now is part of a courtyard of stables and barn. We have our own chickens and horses and sheep graze the rest of the land.

Rooms

There is a choice of comfortable and attractive accommodation.
One double/family room with en-suite facilities.
Two double/twin rooms with shared or private bathroom.

Children are very welcome and under 2’s are free (travel cot and high chair available).

All of the rooms have a television with a freeview connection, an alarm clock, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

You have full control of the heating in your room with thermostatically controlled radiators.

There is a comfortable guest sitting room, complete with cosy wood burner in the original inglenook fireplace and a large selection of books and board games.

“Comfortable, cosy and really relaxing-home from home.” C and A, Gloucs.

“Very relaxing, nice food, woodburner-excellent!” R and S, Flintshire.

Meals

All guests are welcomed on arrival with tea or coffee and a slice of homemade cake.

Look forward to a traditional full Welsh breakfast or choose a luxury breakfast of smoked salmon scrambled eggs on toasted bagels or even a lighter start with our selection of cereals and fruit. If we are lucky our chickens supply the breakfast eggs but if not we use locally sourced produce, especially free range and where possible fair trade products.

Home cooked evening meals of three courses (bring your own wine!) can be provided if booked in advance or there is a choice of local pubs providing extensive menus.

Packed lunches are available on request- ideal for those planning on day horse-rides, cycle rides or walks around the area.
All diets can be catered for if you let us know beforehand.

“Simply wonderful, I will be back for more good food and relaxation, Thanks!” C, S Wales.

Pets and Gardens

Guests are welcome to use any part of the garden and to walk around the land.

Pets are welcome to stay in your vehicle or they can be accommodated outside in a pen or in the porch of the house. As we have a sensitive collie, cats and free-range chickens that live with us and we have sheep grazing the land, all dogs must be kept under control and on a lead. There are some areas on the small-holding that they can be off the lead and we are very close to the Radnor Forest which is perfect for exciting dog walks!

There is ample parking for cars, horse boxes and trailers on the property and locked storage can be provided.

Camping can be arranged but please ring to discuss prior to arriving.

Booking

We require a deposit of £10 per person per night to secure a booking. Please make cheques to J.Rice. This deposit is not refundable.
We are sorry, no debit or credit cards- only payments of cash or cheques can be accepted!
